Meet the clients

Polidori Barbera offers a dynamic approach to surface design - always striving to create a bespoke solution.

Viero UK has built a long-lasting relationship supplying Luisa Polidori and Cristiana Barbera with a variety of products from our plaster finish range.

We spoke to Cristiana as part of our latest 'meet the clients' feature to find out more behind their high-end design operation.

Tell us a bit more about your business…

We specilaise in textured wall coverings. We try to create finishes that are unique, handmade and artistic which are bespoke and custom made for each client.

Even when we buy products from Viero UK, we add our own colourisers to give us a unique look.

Luisa and I both studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and we got into our business from there.

We were originally painters and tried to create something with the business that would offer something different and create aesthetically interesting work.

The strength of our business has always been our bespoke approach to design because our clients know that what we have created something special for them. If one of our clients has bought an expensive piece of furniture or used a specific fabric, they know we will create something that goes with it in terms of colour and texture.

What projects are you working on at the moment?

We are mainly working on residential projects and usually with famous interior designers such as Kelly Hoppen. One project we are particularly excited about at the moment is working on the new Soho House in White City. The samples have been completed and we are waiting to get started around October time. We work in lots of beautiful homes, so it is hard to choose just one but there’s always something to look forward to.

How did you start working with Viero UK?

It was many years ago. Our first project was a residential project in Notting Hill and we wanted to create something very particular and beautiful.

At the time, the Stucco Marmorino wasn’t readily something available in this country so we found a distributor who recommended a Stucco extra base from Viero UK that we could add certain products to in order to get the consistency and texture we wanted.

What do you like about working with Viero?

Well, as soon as we completed this first project we had a finish which we could show to potential new clients which helped us to grow new business opportunities. It was very popular.

We still use the Stucco Extra base a lot and also the smooth Lithos plaster as they are products which really help us to create the finishes, patterns and textures that we like.

We have always needed a partner who could produce our materials in big quantities and even put together a recipe we supply and Viero UK has always been able to handle our requests comfortably.

It makes our life a lot easier. We’re proud that some of the finishes we have created have gone on to become products in the Viero UK range, such as Stone and Corduroy. This shows that the partnership is successful.

What do you think the future holds for you?

We are in a period where textured plasters are very trendy. There are more applicators around, so our aim is to target more big projects like hotels and restaurants. I hope that the more work we do, the more doors will open for us to build our case studies and take on more work.
