Decorex 2018

Decorex 2018

Posted in in Industry

It was another exciting London Design Festival and Decorex 2018 at Syon Park played its usual pivotal part.

It’s always a highlight of our industry calendar as we look forward to meeting the makers and creators behind some of the best brands in the interior design world. Here are some of our highlights, trends and inspirations from the show:

Pattern

It’s all about the texture and the print - go bold or go home. Whether it’s print repeats and geometrics that are making a statement, as seen in Bethan Grey’s latest furniture collection or the zig-zag herringbone wooden flooring of the moment or natural materials and three-dimensional wall coverings, we’re no longer seeing flat surfaces with no personality.

Colour Trends

In a contrast to previous years where many of the stands at Decorex were a sea of grey and minimalism, bold rich colours are set to continue into 2019 interiors. Deep hues of blue and dark emerald greens both in furniture design and interior walls were prominent, and the pink and grey combination proved to be thriving.

Luxe Materials

Also breaking out from minimalism and into the decidedly lavish, luxury materials and finishings were at the core of every brand’s offerings. Hints of marble were still present, but terrazzo was more prominent and there was hardly a hint of chrome in sight as they made way for gold and brass fittings. For interior lovers on the hunt for statement furniture, velvet sofas and chairs are the only way to go. As ever, quality craftmanship inspired by vintage and heritage pieces were scattered throughout the show. Chadder & Co’s embellished victorian bathtubs and Skinflint’s restored 1940’s British airfield lights were a particular highlight.
