Reflecting the Neighborhood's Rich History

Working alongside Michaelis Boyd Architects, the design brief aimed to reflect the historic charm of Leicester Square’s theatre land. Viero UK's Venetian polished plasters were chosen for their durability and their unique ability to amplify natural light, creating a soft, reflective glow that adds depth and warmth to the spaces.

Our skilled team of applicators worked meticulously over several months to apply the finishes, resulting in a look that hotel staff described as ‘warm and welcoming.’ The plaster’s subtle texture perfectly complemented the hotel’s elegant atmosphere, enriching the guest experience.

Beauty and Function Combined

Special care was taken in the hotel’s bathrooms, where Viero UK's Marmorin Hydro was applied. This lime-based Venetian plaster is perfect for high-humidity areas, offering protection against water damage while maintaining a stunning visual appeal. The cool grey tones of Marmorin Hydro, paired with green tiles in the shower areas, create a harmonious, nature-inspired ambiance.

Aria Gianquitto, Hotel Marketing Manager, shared:

"The feedback from guests and management has been overwhelmingly positive. It's refreshing to have a break from traditional tiled bathrooms, and the warm, inviting colours of the plaster truly set our bathrooms apart."

A Nod to the Past, a Vision for the Future

The design aimed to capture the historic patina of Leicester Square’s old theatres, with Venetian plaster providing the perfect medium to reflect this aged beauty. Each layer of application creates depth, giving the walls a timeless elegance that speaks to the building’s heritage while offering a refined, contemporary feel.

Hotel Indigo’s transformation is a perfect blend of history and modernity, with Viero UK’s plasters adding both texture and sophistication to the hotel’s interior.

Our vision was to reflect the distressed walls of old local theatres and to bring some depth to the wall finishes throughout the building. We were interested to explore possibilities of Venetian plaster to reflect the historic patina of a theatre.

We are very pleased with the result which is elegant and refined. It is a very rich finish which can tell a story through the different layers of the application.
