Our journey with Viero materials began in the mid-1990s when our father, Peter Walters, first began sourcing their products through Textured European Finishes (TEF), the UK distributor at the time. Peter’s company, Armour Contracts, specialised in mainly applying Viero’s exterior coatings, such as Ceramitz and Graniplast. Recognising the brand's potential, Peter took the opportunity to acquire TEF in 2005 and rebranded it as Viero UK in 2007.
In 2014, I (Chris Walters) joined the business and focused on expanding our interior offerings, while my sister Francesca joined in 2018, bringing her expertise in business operations and customer relationships. Together, we’ve built a reputation for technical expertise, craftsmanship, and exceptional service.
Over the years, Viero UK has become a trusted partner for some of the most prestigious clients in the industry. Our work can be found in luxury residences, renowned hotels, and high-profile commercial spaces across the UK and internationally. We’ve worked on recent projects in London, New York, Paris, and Copenhagen, with notable clients such as Soho House, Kelly Hoppen Interiors, Studio Indigo, Hoxton Hotel, TP Bennett, and Conran + Partners.

The History of Viero
Founded in 1967 in Italy, Viero has been a pioneer in decorative plasters and specialist coatings for over 50 years. With a presence in more than 50 countries, Viero continues to lead the way in innovative surface finishes for interiors and exteriors. Viero UK is proud to be part of this legacy, bringing authentic Italian craftsmanship and premium-quality materials to the British market.
1967
Viero (Italy) Established 1967
Viero was estabilished in 1967 by P.Viero and D.Isabella in the Italian province of Novara. It was here that Viero started the production of its textured wall coatings and paints.
1975
By the mid 70's Viero had outgrown its factory and moved to a larger production plant in Cassano Valcuviaown.
1983
By the early 80's Viero had built a strong reputation throughout Italy for manufacturing high quality products and in 1983 the company transformed into an S.p.A. (Joint Stock Company).

Viero's reputation for manufacturing high quality wall coatings did not go unoticed and in 1990 the company would be aquired by The LaFarge Groupe, through it's Lafarge Nouveaux Matériaux division. Viero S.p.A became the first Italian company of the French multinational paints division; the milestone of its development in Italy.
1992
In 1992 Viero S.p.A. continued it's dominence in Italy and acquired Ceprovip S.p.A.
1993
In 1993 another Italian brand, Veryplast, is acquired by Viero S.p.A.. The production is entirely moved to Cassano Valcuvia and the brand is slowly absorbed by the Viero trademark.
1997
In 1997 Ceprovip S.p.A. is incorporated in Viero S.p.A. and the new company Lafarge Coatings Italia S.p.A. is born with its head offices always remaining in Cassano Valcuvia. During July of the same year, Lafarge Coatings Italia S.p.A. acquires the company Settef.
2001
Settef becomes incorporated by Viero S.p.A and Lafarge's Specialty Materials division became Materis Paints.
2007
By 2007 Materis Paints had become a global player by bringing together more than ten brands, including Viero, from across Europe (Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and Switzerland).
2015
In 2015, a rebranding saw Materis Paints become Cromology which marked a new chapter in its history, underpinned by a growth strategy based on the development of its brands and its distribution networks in their local markets.
Present Day
Since its humble beginings in 1967, Viero has continued to hold a strong reputation for producing high-quality products which are all manufactured in Italy. The company now has two production plants, one in Porcari (Lucca) and the other in Resana (Treviso) as well as a sales office in Millan. From its roots in Italy, Viero has expanded its business operations into 50 countries with almost 200 partners worldwide. This network allows Viero to assist architects, interior designers and developers on their projects throughout the world.
